Summer Skills Camps for Schools of Logic & Rhetoric

 

Veritas Academy is offering skills camps before the start of the 2019-2020 school year to help students in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric brush up on their grammar, writing, and keyboarding skills! While the camps are open to all Veritas students, they are highly encouraged--and sometimes required--for new students as they prepare to transition into the classical model. 

If you have questions about any of these camps, please email the camp teacher before registering your student(s).

WHEN:
Monday-Friday, July 22-26 and July 29-Aug 2  (Two Week Camp)

10am-12pm -OR- 1-3pm (Daily)

WHO:

Ideal for any 5th-9th Grade student who would like to learn basic keyboarding skills. This will be especially helpful to 7th Graders taking the Technology class during the 2019-2020 school year

WHAT:

Students will learn correct touch keyboarding techniques, develop touch keystroking speed and accuracy, along with a working knowledge of basic word processing functions and proofreading, and learn to compose at the keyboard. Enrollment limited to 12 students. If interest is high enough, we will possibly create another class group.

COST: 

$205 per student 

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

Students must bring their own laptop and power cord.

Monday-Friday, July 22-26  (One Week Camp)

11:30am-1:00pm (Daily)

WHO:

Ideal for new 7th-10th Grade students to refresh/improve their grammar skills for the 2019-2020 school year.

WHAT:

At Veritas Academy, 7th-10th Grade English classes begin assuming students have solid basic sentence diagramming knowledge. During this skills camp, students will learn the basics of Rod and Staff Grammar including defining parts of speech and diagramming sentences. 

COST: 

$129 per student

WHEN:
Monday-Friday, Jul 29-Aug 2 (One Week Camp)

11:30-1:00pm (Daily)

WHO:

Ideal for new 8th-10th Grade students to learn the basics of the Jane Schaffer Writing Method that is used for literary analysis writing in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric.

WHAT:

At Veritas Academy, 8th-10th Grade English classes begin with the assumption that students have had prior instruction in the Jane Schaffer Writing Method. During this camp, students will learn the basics of the Jane Schaffer Writing Method that is used for literary analysis writing in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric.

$129 per student
