Covid Updates from our Head of School
The mission and vision of Veritas Academy has remained unchanged since the founding of the school and is rooted in partnership. We continue to believe that together we are better, and this is at the forefront of our minds as we navigate this school year's many moving pieces.
Our primary objective for the 2020-2021 school year is to maximize in-person, on-campus instruction for our students, conducted in a manner that is as safe as reasonably and practically possible for both our kids and their teachers. Striking this balance will not be the easiest thing we attempt this year, and yet we believe it is possible as we remain committed to supporting the safety of our community and upholding the mission and values of Veritas Academy that have brought us together.

Week 19 Covid Recap
After a positive Covid test result came back for an 8th grade student who was on campus earlier this week, and following contact tracing that revealed close contacts with a significant number of his/her classmates, we made the decision to move all of 8th grade to the Virtual Veritas mode until at least Feb 1. We’ll continue to monitor this class closely to see if evidence of community spread (within Veritas) emerges.
And then this afternoon, another positive Covid test was received by a GS student whose doctor then clinically diagnosed his/her symptomatic sibling with the same, in spite of a negative test. Therefore, two GS class cohorts (in K and 2nd) have been notified and are now also on quarantine until Feb.
In the broader Austin area, new Covid cases and hospitalizations have bounced around a little over the past week and remain near record high levels. See the updated charts below.
