Covid Updates from our Head of School
The mission and vision of Veritas Academy has remained unchanged since the founding of the school and is rooted in partnership. We continue to believe that together we are better, and this is at the forefront of our minds as we navigate this school year's many moving pieces.
Our primary objective for the 2020-2021 school year is to maximize in-person, on-campus instruction for our students, conducted in a manner that is as safe as reasonably and practically possible for both our kids and their teachers. Striking this balance will not be the easiest thing we attempt this year, and yet we believe it is possible as we remain committed to supporting the safety of our community and upholding the mission and values of Veritas Academy that have brought us together.
Week 18 Covid Update & Area Numbers
Week 18 Covid Recap
We began this week and the new semester with one active Covid-positive case among students and one among faculty/staff.Throughout the week we’ve learned of two more students (both in the SL) and one teacher (in the GS) who recently tested positive. Fortunately, none of these test-positive individuals has been on campus since before the Christmas break.
As reported in the local media and reflected in the charts below, new Covid cases and hospitalizations in the Austin-area continue to remain at very high levels (Stage 5). Veritas students and faculty/staff responded this week with a much greater emphasis on complying with the school’s Covid-prevention protocols. We’re grateful for that renewed attentiveness and will need for it to continue in order to remain open throughout the winter.
