Covid Updates from our Head of School
The mission and vision of Veritas Academy has remained unchanged since the founding of the school and is rooted in partnership. We continue to believe that together we are better, and this is at the forefront of our minds as we navigate this school year's many moving pieces.
Our primary objective for the 2020-2021 school year is to maximize in-person, on-campus instruction for our students, conducted in a manner that is as safe as reasonably and practically possible for both our kids and their teachers. Striking this balance will not be the easiest thing we attempt this year, and yet we believe it is possible as we remain committed to supporting the safety of our community and upholding the mission and values of Veritas Academy that have brought us together.
Week 25 Covid Update
After reporting no data from Feb 13-20 due to the effects of the winter storms, Austin/Travis County Public Health Authority began tracking daily data again early last week and has now resumed its reporting of the 7-day moving averages of new Covid cases and new hospitalizations. As expected, the daily averages have plummeted as a result of the weather-related shutdown we experienced, returning the metro area back down to Stage 3 levels.
Within the Veritas community, we’ve had another case of Covid in the student body of the SR, but that student had not been on campus during his/her infectious period. As we approach Spring Break, all the school year's current policies will remain in place and allow us time to evaluate Governor Abbot's unexpected Executive Order from this week. We will share any updates on our masking policy at the end of next week.
